The environmentally friendly wooden "Joglo" houses were designed and built in Yogyakarta’s traditional house, in Java, and then transported by boat to Gili Trawangan to be reconstructed on site. Every house is lovingly furnished with hand-carved antique tables, screens, cupboards, ornate mirrors and primitive artifacts. Open-weave lamps cast intricate patterns over everything. Some of the villas boast magnificent four-poster beds, built into the beams within the central funnel of the roof. A set of antique double doors leads into a sunny bathroom at the back, offering total open-air privacy, partially sheltered by a roof.
